10 Interior Design Tips To Upgrade Your Bedroom

When was the last time you overhauled your bedroom?  If it’s been a while then it could be because you are short on time and cash.

However, there are plenty of ways to make small changes that have a big impact. For example, painting the walls and adding fresh bedding can be a quick and easy way to give your space an updated look.

But we know that spending a lot of money on new furniture is hard when you’re working with limited funds.

Here’s our list of ten interior design tips for upgrading your bedroom without breaking the bank.

1. Pick a Palette and Stick To It

You don’t want to end up with a room that looks like it was decorated by an interior designer on a budget. To avoid this, pick one color palette and stick to it.

This will make the room look more cohesive in terms of home decor, and you’ll be able to create an elegant, monochromatic environment in which everything works together beautifully.

2. Use Complimentary Colors

If you pick a color scheme that works with your decor and taste, you can use complementary colors (like red and green or blue and orange) for accents throughout the room. If you have no idea where to start when trying to decide what colors would be best for your bedroom, consider using one of these palettes.

Navy blue or charcoal gray as the main color; soft blues such as light aqua/teal or robin’s egg; white as an accent or trim color; very light grayed browns such as taupe; pale grays like dove gray

3. Hang Curtains at Ceiling Height

Another way to make your bedroom feel more spacious is by hanging curtains at ceiling height. This makes the room look bigger, and allows you to control how much light gets into the room. You can also use curtains to divide up your bedroom into different zones if necessary.

For example, if your room has two separate areas like a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom, hang a curtain between the two spaces so they don’t feel so separated from each other.

If you’re working with small windows or large spaces without much wall space for hanging curtains, consider using rods that are attached directly to the ceiling instead of using brackets on top of each window frame or on opposite walls (which would create an even larger gap between them).

This way there’s no need for bulky hardware that takes up valuable floor space in this tight corner area!

Remember you might also want curtains for your bed especially if you are considering purchasing a new bed such as the platform bed at Modern Digs.

4. Make Your Bed Your Focal Point

Making the bed your focal point is one of the easiest ways to upgrade any bedroom. You can use a bedside table or nightstand to store items.

However, it’s also important to add some texture and color with a throw blanket. A duvet cover is another easy way to accessorize your bed.

5. Layer Your Lighting

When it comes to lighting, “it’s not just about the light bulb,” says designer Stephen Shadley. “It’s what you’re going to do with that light.”

For example, let’s say you have a beautiful chandelier in your living room. This arrangement can create a warm and inviting ambiance for entertaining guests when combined with ambient lightings, like overhead recessed lights or track lighting above the sofa.

But when it comes time for bedtime reading or just winding down before sleep, task lighting (like a desk lamp) is essential for reading those final chapters of War and Peace without straining your eyes.

Ambient lighting should be at least 20 percent of your overall illumination scheme that means if you have 6 lamps in total throughout the house (including chandeliers), then two should be dedicated solely to creating an attractive glow around any given room.

Accent lights are less important but still necessary for highlighting specific features in rooms such as artwork or architectural details; so make sure there are at least two fixtures for these purposes too!

6. Go Big With Artwork or Wallpaper

If you’re looking to upgrade your bedroom, go big with art or wallpaper. Choose a focal point that is large enough to be noticed and interesting enough to make it worth your while.

In addition, consider the room’s overall color scheme when choosing your focal point; this will help ensure that the piece you choose goes well with the rest of the room’s decor.

7. Don’t Forget the Floor

When it comes to your bedroom, you might be surprised to learn that the floor is often the most overlooked part of the room! The floor is usually the first thing you see when you walk into a room, so it does play a significant role in how much space feels inviting or cozy.

The good news is that there are endless ways to incorporate color, patterns, and textures on your floors, and these small details can make an enormous difference in how warm or cool your space feels.

These Interior Design Tips for Your Bedroom Can Make a Big Difference

While it’s tempting to dismiss the idea of making small changes in your bedroom as inconsequential, nothing could be further from the truth.

A simple change can make a big difference in how you feel about your space and how much pleasure you get out of it.

Don’t be afraid to make changes, don’t be afraid to take risks, don’t be afraid to fail or ask for help if you need it, or try new things when it comes to interior design tips.
