How to Properly Maintain and Clean Your Vape

Vapes are sleek, modern devices that are a blast to use. Unfortunately, they’re susceptible to some common pitfalls.

The best way to avoid these is by cleaning regularly. The mouthpiece, tank, and coil are all easily cleaned separately. Read the manual for your device and apply alcohol to stubborn spots if necessary.

Disassemble the Vape

Buying a new vape device online is exciting, but you might be worried about getting it dirty or gunky. The best way to make sure that doesn’t happen is to clean it regularly. There are a few different ways to do this, but we recommend using an ultrasonic cleaner. Ultrasonic cleaners use high-frequency sound waves to create microscopic bubbles in a cleaning solution, which gently agitate and remove dirt, residue, and contaminants from the different parts of your device. This is a much faster and more thorough process than traditional cleaning methods.

The first step in cleaning your vape is to disassemble it. This will help you remove the tank, coil, and battery for a more thorough cleaning. If you’re unsure how to do this, consult your device’s manual or an online guide. Be sure to keep all the pieces separated and organized and take notes so you know where each part goes when reassembling it.

Next, you’ll want to clean the mouthpiece. This is usually pretty easy to do, but it’s important to do it frequently. If left unclean, it can attract grime, dust, and residue that can affect the taste and performance of your device. Run warm water through it and wipe it with a soft cloth to remove any visible stains or residue.

Now it’s time to move on to the tank itself. Most tanks are fairly easy to disassemble, but it’s worth taking your time and making sure you don’t lose any parts. If you’re having trouble with this, consult an online guide or YouTube video. Once you’ve removed the tank, make sure it’s empty of e-liquid and that the coil is detached.

Finally, you’ll want to start soaking it in your chosen cleaning solution. Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is a good choice, as it’s very effective at cleaning caked-in gunk and removing stains. Other options include vodka, vinegar, and baking soda. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly afterward.

Be careful not to get any liquid on the battery connections, as this can damage or short-circuit the device. Once you’re done soaking the tank, let it dry completely before reassembling.

Clean the Tank

The tank is the part of a vape that holds the e-liquid. It’s also where vapor is formed, which is why it’s one of the most important parts to keep clean. A dirty tank can ruin the flavor of any juice you’re using and even cause the vapor to taste burnt.

The first step in cleaning your tank is to empty it. This can be done by running it under warm water until all the liquid is gone. Then, rinse it well in fresh water and wipe down any other pieces of your vape with a paper towel. Then, allow the tank and its parts to dry thoroughly before reinserting them into your device.

You should clean your tank whenever you change to a new flavor of e-liquid, and it’s best to do it after every use. This will prevent any remnants from interfering with your next vaping experience and help you avoid a bad vapor taste that could result from an infected coil or other issue.

To clean your tank, remove it from other components like the mouthpiece and battery mod. Put the tank into a bowl of warm water, adding a small amount of washing liquid or lemon juice for a deeper cleaning if needed. Then, use a toothbrush or similar small tool to shift any remaining stains or deposits in hard-to-reach spots.

Once you’re finished, rinse your tank’s parts again with clean water and allow them to dry completely. It’s best to let them sit for a few hours before you try vaping again, but you can accelerate the drying process by placing the parts in a bowl of warm water with a hairdryer on a low setting.

When cleaning your cartridge-loaded vape pen, use cotton swabs dabbed in rubbing alcohol to clean the interior of the tank. Be sure to not submerge the cartridge itself in alcohol or other cleaners, as this can contaminate your e-liquid, produce harsh flavors, and dramatically reduce the performance of your cartridge.

Clean the Coil

Whether you have a vape pen, an atomizer, or a dab rig, a clean coil is essential to the quality of your vaping experience. The same way a car requires adherence to a maintenance schedule, thorough inspections, and frequent washing, the same goes for your vaporizer. A clean coil will last longer and make your vaporizer more enjoyable to use.

The first step is to remove the tank and coil from your device. Place the tank section of your vaporizer into a bowl of warm water with a bit of cleaning solution. Soak the tank and coil in the solution for about an hour and rinse thoroughly.

When you are done, place the coil back into the tank and reassemble the tank section of your vaporizer. Next, take your cotton swabs and dip them in rubbing alcohol. Dab the tank’s exterior and mouthpiece with a clean swab until it is free of residue. Be careful not to soak your battery! Allowing a battery to be submerged in water could cause it to short-circuit or malfunction.

Most people don’t realize that a dirty coil is the cause of their vaporizer not performing the same as it used to. When a coil is dirty, it will burn your vaporizer oil or concentrates, produce harsh flavors, and decrease the coil’s lifespan.

If you find that you can’t get your coil as clean as it should be, try placing the coil into a container of warm water with a bit of a cleaning agent, like rubbing alcohol or vinegar. Soak the coil in the solution for about an hour and then rinse it thoroughly.

A dirty screen is another common cause of a vaporizer not performing the same as it did when it was new. If you’ve been using your vaporizer for a while and notice that it has a scratched or scuffed screen, start by removing the battery, if possible. Then wipe the screen with a damp microfiber cloth, using smooth strokes and not pressing too hard. Repeatedly wiping the screen is key to preventing it from becoming more scuffed or scratched over time.

Clean the Battery

The battery is one of the most delicate components of your vape and one of the most important. Often, when your vaporizer fails to turn on, it’s because of a dirty battery that’s clogged with gunk or disconnected from the rest of the device. This is why it’s crucial to clean your battery regularly.

Luckily, cleaning your vape battery is relatively easy. Firstly, make sure that you have turned off the device and that it’s completely cooled down before you begin. Once you’re sure that the device is no longer powered, take a cotton swab, and dab it in isopropyl alcohol. Rub this across all of the main buttons on your mod (usually a power button and two adjustment buttons) to wipe off any residue that may be gathered from regular use.

Once you’ve cleaned all of the main buttons, you should turn your attention to the charging ports on your battery. These ports are the connection between your battery and the coil, so they can be the most problematic if they’re not kept clean. Again, using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol, carefully clean the ports of your device. Be careful not to get the wires or other electrical components wet – this can be very dangerous.

Finally, it’s a good idea to use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner or similar device designed for cleaning small, fragile items, as this can remove any stubborn deposits that you might have missed with the cotton swab and rubbing alcohol combo. You should never submerge your vape battery in water as this can damage it or cause a short circuit.

Vape pens are becoming increasingly popular for the delivery of CBD, oils, and waxes, but like any electronic device, they require a little bit of maintenance and care to keep them functioning correctly. By committing to a regular cleaning schedule and taking the time to do it right, you can ensure that your vaporizer continues to deliver quality experiences for years to come. Don’t forget to regularly clean your atomizer, tank, and battery, and you’ll find your vaping experience much more enjoyable!
