Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Attempt DIY Solar Installation

If you’re going to be installing solar panels on your home’s roof sometime soon, you might be asking yourself, “Can you install your own solar panels?”

Technically, the answer to this question is “yes.” But that does not mean that you should attempt to install your own solar panels.

Unless you have a wealth of experience when it comes to installing solar panels, you’re going to run into all kinds of problems if you try to build and install your own solar panels. Today, we’re going to talk about some of these issues to show you why taking the DIY approach to installing solar panels is a dumb idea.

Take a look at several of the top reasons why you should not buy and install your own solar panels below.

You Might End Up Doing Damage to Your Roof

If you try to install solar panels yourself and don’t know what you’re doing, there is a very good chance that you could do some damage to your roof. You might put holes in your roof that will allow water to leak in.

This could very well lead to you having to do extensive roof repairs in the not-too-distant future. This will make the cost to install your own solar panels skyrocket to a higher price than you would have to pay to hire a reputable company that specializes in installing solar in your area.

You Might Mess Up Your Brand-New Solar Panels

In addition to doing damage to your roof while installing solar panels on your own, you might also do damage to the brand-new solar panels that you’re buying. They might not work in the way that they’re supposed to if you don’t install them right.

And do you really want to spend money on solar panels only to have them not do what they’re supposed to do? Of course not! It’s another reason why the answer to the question, “Can you install your own solar panels?”, should always be “NO!”

You Might Void the Warranty on Your Solar Panels

Most solar panels will come with a warranty on them. But that warranty is only going to kick in when you have a professional solar panel company install them. It’ll be voided if a solar panel company learns that you installed them yourself.

This could force you to have to pay for expensive solar panel repairs down the line if something ever happens to them. You would be so much better off keeping your warranty intact by hiring the pros to put solar panels in place for you.

Stop Asking “Can You Install Your Own Solar Panels?” and Hire the Professionals

We don’t blame you for asking the question, “Can you install your own solar panels?” There are lots of DIY home improvement projects that you can and should take on yourself to save a few bucks.
